KENYA 2010-11-28 [10:15pm]: Shangilia and Habesha

2010-11-28 10:15pm..

Hello!

This morning I woke up with a sore throat… And so far it has just become worse… :( Typical.

I had to go back to the hospital this morning to pick up the x-ray… I woke up early so I was actually sitting at Java house close to the hospital and used their wireless for some time…

Then at 10am I walked up to radiology to pick up my x-rays… But they STILL hadn’t filled out the patient’s report… And it took then about 1 hour to get me that information and letting me know, it’s ok, I can just get the handwritten one… (you know doctors…. I can’t read what it says…!).

I was just so frustrated cause I could’ve gotten them yesterday and spent the morning at Shangilia instead.

So the morning was kind of rough… Starting to get a cold… waiting around for the x-rays… oh and best of all (note the sarcasm) I got a mosquito bite UNDER my freakin’ foot!! It’s big and red and when I walk it feels like I’m walking on a ball…! *sigh*

Feels like someone doesn’t want me to walk around in Nairobi.

After the hospital visit I went to see if the movies were done. I’m still waiting to get the High school musical movies… But the place was closed so I headed out to Shangilia… I got there at around noon.

But first I got a big box of biscuits for the kids…. Felt like giving them something small…being the second to last day there…

We watched Cars and hung out… But it was kind of hard for me to be there today cause I’m not feeling too good… I felt I couldn’t give the kids my all…

Today is my best friend Sandra’s birthday and I got the kids to sing Happy Birthday to her over the phone, it was so sweet! I miss my Sandy and I can’t wait to see her again!

We left Shangilia at around 4pm… First we went to Java, ABC Place to have something small to eat (I had only eaten breakfast…) and just relax for a bit, then we went to YMCA to change… and then we headed off to Habesha.

Wesley was almost right on time! But he has been like every time we’ve met so far!
Diana and her crew however… haha, truly Kenyans… arrived almost an hour late. True Kenyan spirit ;) And the funny thing is that Diana was the one who asked me to move the dinner up to 6:30pm cause they had a bus to catch in the evening! I love Kenyan’s time optimism.

It was so so so wonderful to see Diana and Sam again and I got to meet her other sister Carol and her husband and we all had such a good time and really enjoyed the food :)

It’s insane… We ordered 4 injera plates with different meat mixes, and one basket of just injera (like 6 or 7 rolls), I had 4(!) diet cokes (hot food!), Mary had 3 or 4 as well… Karol had 2 glasses of wine, her husband 2 tusker beers, Wesley 2 fanta and Sam 2 sprite… And the total of the bill was less than 500 SEK(!!!). It’s amazing!

Right now I’m back at the hostel, and I just wanted to finish this update of the day before I go to bed… I feel really bad. I have been eating too many Strepsils for my own good today… But when you suck on a Strepsil mint you feel better… and you want that feeling to last so of course you take one more, and one more, and one more….

I’m freezing but it’s not like there’s a radiator to turn on or anything…

I’m just gonna crawl under the cover and hope hope hope to feel better by tomorrow… otherwise, going home is gonna be such a drag. Especially with 6 hours in Istanbul… or if it’s even more…I’m not sure…and right now, I don’t want to know…!

Nighty night for now!

MWAH!

Me and Benjo :)
